Alex Herring is a freelance Theatre Designer, specialising in set, costume, props and puppetry. She is also a keen performer and deviser, currently developing skills in Workshop Leading, Physical Theatre, Clowning, Fire Poi, Site Specific Performance, and Multi-Media Experimentation.
In early 2013, she won £1000 from IdeasTap ‘Ideas Innovators Fund’ to develop and create an innovative and unique style of visual theatre using a combination of puppetry, film, animation, sound and live music.
Her work draws influence from a variety of art forms, from dance and music to art installations, film and interior design (even video games). She has a strong interest in paper sculpture/manipulation, textile development and altered/up-cycled crafts and often uses recycled materials and found objects in her work.
